Engaging Settings

English and language arts students learn to identify and discuss setting and character as story elements in narrative writing throughout their academic careers. But how do writers engage readers in the settings they create? This lesson examines the use of point of view and sensory details as tools to enhance narrative writing.

This module may be assigned for independent completion by students online. They may complete the module by clicking through the four pages of the unit on this site. Instructors choosing to implement the lesson remotely in a group setting may download the materials below.
